Gone for a Run… All 4 Run Recap

Things have been a little chaotic the past three weeks, with my knee acting up and finally feeling better and then my back feeling tight and sore and so though I have been running, I haven’t been posting and instead have been moping around about not feeling great.  WELL…  That’s over now (though I am still not feeling 100% right now) and it’s time to fill you in on what I have been up to.

Let’s start with last weekend, and the Fourth of July… since backtracking 3 weeks just is not going to happen (nobody wants to hear about my food slip ups, plethora of single miles and whining!!!

As you may have seen on the IG or my other social media, I was asked to participate in the Gone for a Run ‘All For Run’ Virtual Race for the holiday and I jumped at the chance for some sweet swag, before realizing I would be so sore that four mils would feel like death!  Regardless, I set my alarm for a 4 mile run with my MRTT mamas, some who were also participating in the virtual, and went to bed.  Funny story…  apparently I don’t know AM from PM and I woke up at exactly the time I should have arrived at our meeting point.  I got dressed and headed to the meeting point, brought donuts to the girls as they finished and then headed home to run 4 miles by myself Sad smile

I ran a two mile out and back in my race tank, and my star spangled headband.  My plan was to wear my red white and blue tutu as well but I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE!  Moving is the absolute worst!!!  I was super sad I hadn’t been able to make the run with friends but the thing I love about a virtual race is that you can celebrate any run, any time with your bib, and hang a medal around your neck when you are done.  For a busy mom ho works full time, Virtual racing can be a great way to build up your medal rack without traveling from race to race.

Afterwards, we headed into Old Town Temecula for the Parade and met up with a few friends and their kiddos.  We had planned to have a low key day but we ended up inviting the crowd over for burgers and hot dogs and ended up having a few drinks (that I may have ordered some fun new pool safe cups for) as well!  All in all, it turned into a fabulous fun filled day with friends!  I feel like since moving here, we have made the most amazing connections and I am so thankful for them all.  It’s almost as if we were meant to be here so we could have all of these amazing experiences and find all of these truly wonderful people.

I am super excited about the Virtual Race Gone for A Run is holding at the end of this month as well and plan to run it with a few friends (this time I won’t oversleep either).  If you are interested in the Road Shark Run, you just need to sign up before July 21st and make plans to run a 5k between July 31st and August 1st.  Make sure to order yourself some fun Shark socks or sleeves too (LOVE THEM)!  While you are on there signing up for the race, make sure you check out the SWEET PR Recovery sandals I am currently drooling over too!  I think all three of us need a pair!!!

AS for the time in between now and then, I am training for the Griffith Park Trail Marathon Relay with some fabulous mamas, I have two half marathons coming up and Danger is headed to sleep away camp for the month!  I am looking forward to having some time to myself and some time to spend with Rob but I know I am going to miss my boy like crazy!!

Have you ever participated in a virtual run?  What did you like best about it?  What are your plans for the rest of the summer?
